Northern Eastbound

The best friend we could ever have next to Candy Magazine is our cousins. Something is so special about them, like being able to avoid arguments we always have with our siblings and being friends with them while proving that the saying "Blood is thicker than water." is true.

Last Friday, our plan to spend a night together at Bite Club finally happened. We have been planning this for years! Though incomplete due to last minute cancellations of my other cousins' whereabouts, five of us made it and my sister and I had introduced them the biggest burger we know in the metro. Don't judge us! We love Bite Club since I was in high school and I haven't found its best competitor yet except for the one in Iloilo.

Goofing around with my cousin Ebok. Do you see the Enchong Dee resemblance? :)

Here we are enjoying our first ever bite at Bite Club that night!

We're like wolves enjoying the great meaty taste of the grilled patty! Ate Mai and I are glad that they enjoyed it and we are definitely coming back... with more cousins and close friends!

After an hour and a half of staying there, we decided to spend a little more time in Eastwood. We originally planned to drink in The Distillery but Friday night is A Friday night, hence, The Distillery could no longer accommodate us so we stayed at Bed Room instead. It brought back some college memories but it's quite disappointing to see Bed Room now. Dirty, bad service, drinks are not served well and blah, blah, blah. We could have chose Agave instead! But still, we let the good times roll through our endless laughs and catchups!

A bit flop but I love how the "effect" looked like!

Paolo straight from his Naga (work-related) trip!

I missed him! :)

Kuya CJ, Paolo and me.

With Ate Lauren and Budoy!!! :)

What I wore: Cropped top from Royal Kouture | Black knit jeans from Jag | Snakeskin flat shoes from Misbehave and Pepper Potts feathered hairclip from MARiS.

Christmas is near!

Til the next getaway with my cousins!

pink.blush*

Milk tea, frozen yogurt, Forever 21 and Twitter. Today's teenagers integrate their daily lives with these four. A day is impossible to end without tweeting how your day was, or how you failed to stay away from your favorite milk tea shop and/or frozen yogurt parlor, and how you gave in to temptation not to leave your favorite apparel shop empty-handed.

When I was a teenager (oh my gosh this made me feel so old), the only milk tea I drink was Chowking's Nai Cha and it was only Starbucks where "cool" people hang out. When I was a teenager, Red Mango is just a red mango just like a yellow mango is a ripe mango. When I was a teenager, Forever 21 is just an American brand and there was no such thing as Twitter.

My teenage years may seem boring if you tweet to live, but there's one thing that I absolutely love during the years where crushing on the same guy is a big deal and Johnson & Johnson's cheerleading competition is the next big thing to watch out for next to UAAP: it's going on line to meet new friends via Candy's Teentalk and Seventeen's Sigaw.

Young ladies of my age will definitely agree that skipping a monthly issue of Candy and Seventeen magazines will boo you down. If you are a regular collector/reader, then you'll know how Bianca Gonzales, Rhian Ramos, Mikaela Lagdameo-Martinez, Georgina Wilson and Maja Salvador looked like when they were younger. You will look up to twins Klaire and Klau Yapyuco and that you'll find Jenny Rockett a goddess. I am proud to say that I have learned so much from reading Candy and Seventeen. I am who I am now because of these two magazines.

As I've said, Twitter does not exist (and mentions, DM, timeline and followers) but there's Teentalk and Sigaw (username, newbie, ranking, avatar and thread) where I used to spend sleepless nights posting on somebody's threads, replying to someone who asked if Bread Talk is okay or simply having a good time following a certain topic of ABC's of everything. And no, we were not looking for a date (I don't even remember seeing a post asking about ASL--age, sex, location). In this forum, we call each other sis, sister, girl, twin or in my case, I had sizh, sish and twin sister. And I was pink.blush*.

In Candy Teentalk and Seventeen Sigaw, I met wonderful, "online" friends. What is more wonderful, the word I quoted became for real as years go by. I'm no longer pink.blush*. For them, I am me, I am Marianne, Yannie.

When Summit Media stopped the local franchise of Seventeen, I knew its website will also be closed. I was right, they shut it down. The most awaited ranking after Dean's Lister (I ranked the highest, hahaha) will be forever a question mark. But hey, never underestimate the power of kilobytes and megabytes! Multiply, Facebook and Twitter became popular and kept us intact.

After years of friendship, we set dates to finally meet each other in flesh. I met Krissy, Alice, Justine and Jasmine for the first time during the 2008 Candy Fair, Sel became my schoolmate in FEU where we regularly bump in to each other and most recently, I had coffee with Joyce, Krissy, Ahn and Camille. We've been planning this for years and I can't wait to meet and greet the rest this Christmas. The Yuletide season won't be complete without having a party with them!

I'm running out of words now. Let these photos I grabbed from Krissy, Camille and Ahn speak for themselves:

L-R: Joyce, Ahn, Krissy and Camille.

Happy birthday Krissy and Joyce! Haha! :)

Check out Krissy's blog about this coffee date here.

Marianne + Joyce.

Dear Camille, how come we don't have a photo together?

Krissy's tsunami pose!

Staying with them for two hours is more than enough. I'm really crossing my fingers to write down our Christmas party in my planner! pink.bush* now signing off!

#SeventeenMemories

I’m still waiting for Krissy and Ahn to upload photos from their cameras so this is just a short note on how we finally made this coffee date happen. Cliché: Unplanned ones are always the best to happen. Twas so nice to see the lucky girl, the shy type one, the gorgeous mom and the fun bum! Meet them:

Krissy, Camille, Joyce, me and Ahn.

Till the next date with you, Seventeen girls! Those who missed the night definitely missed something great!

It's A Thing Called Love

"I do; to have and to hold; 'til death do us part." These words. These words mean nothing until you spoke it, and it will never mean a thing until you hear someone say it to you. In front of your parents, in front of your family members, in front of your friends, all right before God.

Being in a relationship is entirely different from witnessing a relationship. Yes, being committed to someone you love and being with that person is the most romantic thing we could ever feel but something is sweeter than this. Imagine seeing a couple walking around while holding each others' hands. Or a man opening the door of his car's passenger seat after picking her girl up from a relaxing spa session with her friends. Or as simple as seeing a girl wiping her boyfriend's face after a sweaty basketball game.

Mon and Kim are the perfect example of couples I'd always love to watch. The thought of them being together most of the time during catch-ups with friends, late night movie schedules and whatevers cannot deny the prediction that someday, she will walk down the aisle, him, waiting for her right from the moment the house of the Lord opens its doors, and they will be called as one.

Mon, with his funny yet sweet gestures show the best of his love for Kim. He surely looks shy, an introvert, but with his subtle ways, you'll see him protecting his girl, ready to fight for her, willing to give her his name.

Kim, on the other hand, shows the world how much she's always ready to say yes to everything in the name of love, her smile, the way she looks at him, you'll feel like watching a chick flick.

Mon and Kim will be forever partners, yesterday, today, tomorrow... on the day of their wedding... on the first day they will be considered as man and wife, in the beach, in the dance floor, in the flea market. Partners for life, for themselves and soon for their children.

Many people spend their lives searching for someone to hold on to forever, and fortunately, Mon and Kim are lucky enough to find one another that they call themselves the better half of each other. Standing steadfast at each others' side regardless of what life brings them. They have the excuse not to get scared of getting old, that gray hair would not make her love him less neither her wrinkled skin.

Mon and Kim are bringing their relationship into the next level. He will be taking the person whom he loves the best in his care. To always look for things to be thanked for, to praise and to notice less faults. Mon and Kim are a perfect combination of drama and love story, they share the sense of values and objectives--of loving each other, of taking good care of each other, and the plan to be with each other forever, all for a thing called love.

I made this for our soon-to-be-bride. For more details about their wedding, kindly check out their wedding website, Mon + Kim

Mommy Tin's 18+7 Birthday: Dress To Impress

Our good friend, Mommy Tin, had her birthday bash last Saturday at Gray Fox Bar along Visayas Avenue, QC. She sent out invitations three weeks ahead and wouldn't take "no" or "we will follow" for an answer but when she found out that we reserved our tickets for The Sound Of Music since August, she took our "we promise to follow right after" answer. She knows how much I've been dying to see this and how important it is for me not to miss the first public screening and with it, I'm thankful to have friends who understand. :)

The Saturday that it was is so loaded--from beauty session (hair color, manicure and pedicure) with the girls Jovy, Susie and Rachel, to our one-hour mad rush from QC to Resorts World and back to QC for the party. We all got so drunk that I can't put into words what exactly happened that midnight (we arrived five minutes before 12:00 AM). I can only recall how Kitty, Pia and Susie dragged me to the dance floor seconds after we arrived and said hi to everyone.

Since the party's theme was "Dress To Impress", everybody dressed up and girls were required to wear heels. The security was so strict, nobody's allowed to enter the bar without the invitation-slash-ID.When we got there, my friends were already a bit tipsy, all were acting unusual except for Kim and Jovy who didn't drink. They're also about to leave when we arrived because of Kim's condition and Jovy has work the following day. Still good to know that we have photos taken together, so get yourselves ready for loadssss of photos! (By the way, please excuse my bra slips! Haha)

Susie did not get her hands off me the entire party!

Girls, all present! Me, Jovy, Rachel, Susie and Kimmie.

I looove this!

Mommy Tin's party is one of the best and the most unforgettable party, ever! Although I can't recall how things happened and how we got somewhere in such an ungodly hour, we really enjoyed this night! And oh, even if I wanted to end my life the following day due to severe hangover, I do not regret that I drank more than what my body can take! As my Facebook status says, "We'll never be wise and old if we weren't called young and free!" :)

Thanks for inviting us, Mommy Tin! Paolo and  I are so happy to be a part of your 18+7 Dress To Impress party! We love you!
